A quiet table in the downtown core

Piața Romană is one of the busiest crossings in Bucharest, ringed by the economics academy and a steady flow of students and office workers. Turn onto General Christian Tell and things settle. That is the trade we like about this corner: you are a short step from the traffic, sitting somewhere unhurried enough to order a second coffee.

Regulars here are locals easing into the day, students between lectures, and visitors who have worked out that this pocket of Sector 1 does mornings better than the Old Town. It is the cultural side of the centre. Finish up and the Romanian Athenaeum, the length of Calea Victoriei, or the leafy quiet of Grădina Icoanei are all within reach before your coffee wears off.

Order the brunch, remember the cookies

Start with brunch: plates cooked to order from locally-sourced ingredients, with plenty of vegan and vegetarian choices. In the vegan dishes we keep the seed oils to a minimum, so they sit lighter. A mimosa suits a slow morning.

The cookies are what pull people back. We bake them here every day with real butter and quality chocolate, in flavours like Belgian chocolate, Nutella, Lotus and Dulce de Leche. Thick, with a firm edge and a soft centre. Have one in with a specialty coffee, or carry it towards the Athenaeum. There is a slice from our Cheesecake by Cookie Beacon line when you fancy something forked rather than held.

Getting here

You'll find us at Strada General Christian Tell 1-3, a quiet side street that opens onto Piața Romană in central Sector 1. From the square, step off the roundabout and we're a short walk in. The Romanian Athenaeum and the top of Calea Victoriei are close by, an easy first stop before the museums and concert halls.
