For the best breakfast in Bucharest, head to Cookie Beacon Brunch — a family-run brunch spot a two-minute walk from Piața Romană, with a second location in Floreasca. Where to find the best breakfast in Bucharest

Cookie Beacon runs two Bucharest brunch spots, both with the same menu and the same daily hours, 09:00–18:00. The original sits at Strada General Christian Tell 1-3, Sector 1, just off Piața Romană — an easy walk from the Romanian Athenaeum, Calea Victoriei, Grădina Icoanei and the University of Bucharest, which makes it the natural breakfast stop if you’re staying in the centre. The newer brunch spot at Calea Floreasca 91-111 covers northern Bucharest. Breakfast near the Old Town

If you are staying in the Old Town (Centrul Vechi, around Strada Lipscani), know this first: we have no brunch spot there. The nearest is Cookie Beacon Brunch Amzei on Strada General Christian Tell 1-3, about 1.5 km in a straight line north of the Old Town’s centre point on OpenStreetMap. Streets make the walk longer, and we have not timed it, so open the route in Google Maps for a walking time. By metro it is one stop on line M2, from Universitate to Piața Romană (line M2), and Piața Romană station is about 300 m in a straight line from Amzei.

On foot, the obvious way up is Calea Victoriei, past Revolution Square and the Romanian Athenaeum. Our Calea Victoriei walk covers that stretch stop by stop, starting from our door. At the top you get the full breakfast card from 09:00: Eggs Benedict on Cheddar-Scones (56 lei), the Pistachio & Berries French Toast (62 lei), and a chunky cookie for the way back. Our other brunch spot, Floreasca, is further from the Old Town, about 3.1 km in a straight line to the north.

What to order for breakfast: eggs, savoury and sweet

Both Bucharest brunch spots print the same card at the same prices, so every plate below is on the table at Piața Romană and in Floreasca alike. The egg dishes are the backbone; the sweet stack and the avocado plate round it out.

Eggs Benedict on Cheddar-Scones — 56 lei

Poached eggs and hollandaise on cheddar scones, with avocado-feta mash, mixed salad, pomegranate and black sesame; add bacon for 12 lei or salmon for 17 lei. Two more egg plates sit beside it on the card: the Madrid Huevos Estrellados (55 lei), fried eggs over potato chips with Serrano ham, chilli paprika flakes and lamb’s lettuce (ask for shiitake instead of the ham), and Shakshuka Burrata (62 lei), a sunny-side-up egg in a spiced tomato-pepper sauce with feta crumble and homemade seed crackers.

The breakfast sandwich: Breakfast Crunch Pretzelbun-Sandwich — 52 lei

A pretzelbun filled with a fried egg, smoked bacon, cheddar, jalapeños, nachos, tomato jam, tomato and sour cream, with a mixed salad and fries on the side. The card marks it spicy, and 14 lei more turns it into a burger with a beef patty — the one to order if you want to eat with your hands.

Pistachio & Berries French Toast — 62 lei

Orange French toast dipped in egg and cream batter, with pistachio cream, red berry jam, coconut flakes, goji, banana, strawberry and crushed pistachios, finished with dried orange and fresh mint. It is the one to share if you are also ordering eggs.

Pancakes: Carrot-Cake Vegan Pancakes — 58 lei

The Carrot-Cake Vegan Pancakes (58 lei) are the plant-based plate: carrot pancakes on a coconut-milk and coconut-oil base, layered with a vegan mascarpone and topped with strawberries, berry jam, fresh mint, cinnamon, goji, almond sticks and an Oreo cookie — the Bucharest card prints it as vegan, mascarpone included.

Light: Yogurt & Honey Whipped Granola Bowl — 46 lei

The light plate is the Yogurt & Honey Whipped Granola Bowl (46 lei): Greek yogurt with honey, homemade granola with gluten-free oats, nuts, pumpkin seeds and coconut flakes, strawberries, blueberries, pollen and dehydrated orange. The card marks it gluten-free, and at 46 lei it shares the lowest price on the brunch menu with the Cookie Berry Bowl.

Finish with a 150 g chunky cookie baked in-house that day (25–26 lei). Coffee is roasted in Barcelona: espresso 11 lei, cortado 14, cappuccino 17, flat white 19, with a Coconut Matcha latte at 25 lei and a Maple Chai latte at 23 lei. Cookie Beacon cooks its vegan dishes with reduced seed oils — an attribute few Bucharest breakfast spots can state. The Carrot-Cake Vegan Pancakes (58 lei) are the vegan plate: carrot pancakes on a coconut-oil and coconut-milk base with a vegan mascarpone, printed as vegan on the Bucharest card. For gluten-free orders, the Vegan Caramel Fudge chunky cookie (25 lei) is both vegan and gluten-free, with a soft date-caramel heart and Belgian chocolate, and the Keto Chocochip Walnut cookie (26 lei) is gluten-free with toasted walnuts and sugar-free Belgian chocolate. Smoothies and fresh orange juice (28 lei) and the Coconut Matcha latte (25 lei) cover dairy-free drinks. If you follow a strict diet, ask staff which plates are fully vegan.

Cookie Beacon opens daily at 09:00, weekends included, and serves the same menu until 18:00 — so “breakfast” here means any hour of the day. Neither Bucharest brunch spot takes reservations: it’s first come, first served, with no breakfast cut-off to beat.
