Three minutes from St. Stephen’s Basilica: our home in Lipótváros
We were a family who loved good coffee and long, unhurried brunches, so we built our own version of that on Hercegprímás utca. Every brunch spot we’ve opened since gets measured against this one — including our second home for brunch in Budapest, over on Ferenciek tere.
Lipótváros suits a slow morning. We sit on a side street just off Bajcsy-Zsilinszky út, with the dome of St. Stephen’s Basilica rising a short walk away and the grand run of Andrássy Avenue and the Hungarian State Opera not far beyond. Office regulars from the neighbourhood tend to arrive early, people who’ve walked around the Basilica drop in through the morning, and so does the odd well-behaved dog (ask and we’ll bring a water bowl).
Breakfast from 08:00 by St. Stephen’s Basilica
Breakfast here starts at 08:00 on weekdays and 09:00 at weekends, and the whole menu runs until 17:00, so a late breakfast is never too late. For eggs, order the Eggs Benedict on Cheddar-Scones (Ft 4,600): poached eggs and hollandaise on freshly baked cheddar scones, with smashed avocado and feta crumble. If you’d rather eat with one hand, the Breakfast Crunch Pretzelbun-Sandwich (Ft 3,950) stacks sunny-side-up eggs, cheddar and crispy bacon in a homemade pretzel bun. Pancakes for breakfast: our Carrot-Cake Pancakes
Our pancake dish is the Carrot-Cake Pancakes (Ft 4,600), and the menu tags it vegan. The card describes it as vegan fluffy pancakes, mascarpone coconut cream, homemade berry jam, cinnamon, crunchy almonds, goji, orange zest, mint and an Oreo. It’s served all day, from the moment we open. The Oreo on top is a packaged cookie, so ask our team if you avoid even traces of milk; the plate isn’t tagged gluten-free, and it carries almonds. Reasons to come for breakfast
Our brunch is cooked fresh on-site from locally-sourced ingredients, and the vegan and vegetarian plates get real attention. Our guide to what on the Budapest menu is plant-based lists what’s vegan as served and what we can make vegan on request. There’s specialty coffee, and a mimosa if the morning calls for one. Three of the plates have pages of their own: the Eggs Benedict on Cheddar-Scones, the Madrid Smashed Eggs and the Chicken & Waffles.
The cookies are what pulls people back. Chunky, handmade, baked in-house every day with real butter and proper chocolate: Belgian, Nutella, Lotus, Dulce de Leche. Start with one warm alongside a flat white, and take a box home if one won’t do. For cheesecake, our Cheesecake by Cookie Beacon shop is just around the corner, about 40 m away on Arany János utca 27. When you’re done, it’s an easy stroll down to the Danube Promenade or across to Deák Ferenc Square.
Gluten-free, keto and vegan at Basilica
Three plates on the Basilica card carry a gluten-free tag. The Philly Cheese Steak Protein-Bowl (Ft 5,600) — it has a page of its own — is gluten-free and low-carb: scrambled eggs and sirloin in cheese sauce over a keto pretzel. The Grilled-Romaine Caesar Crunch (Ft 5,100) is gluten-free and low-carb too, with grilled chicken and a keto Caesar sauce. The Yogurt & Honey Whipped Granola Bowl (Ft 3,950) is gluten-free and sugar-free on the card. For gluten-free bread, ask for our Keto Pretzels. Everything is made fresh in a shared kitchen, so please confirm with our team when you order.
Two of the chunky cookies are gluten-free as well. The Macadamia & Strawberries cookie (Ft 2,300) is gluten-free, low-carb and sugar-free on the card, and the Caramel Fudge (vegan) cookie (Ft 1,990) is vegan, gluten-free and refined-sugar-free. On the vegan side, the Carrot-Cake Pancakes (Ft 4,600) are built on vegan fluffy pancakes, the Shakshuka Burrata (Ft 5,100) can be made vegan with a tofu-crumble swap, and the Maple Chai Latte is made with oat milk.

Is breakfast served all day?
Yes. The full menu runs from opening (08:00 on weekdays, 09:00 at weekends) until 17:00, pancakes and egg plates included.
Can I take cookies away?
Yes. The chunky cookies are baked in-house every day, and you can take one for the walk or a box home. Ask at the counter.
What can kids eat?
We build kids’ plates from the extras: a waffle, a cheddar-cheese scone, avocado, egg, nutella, maple syrup or fresh fruit salad. The two we’re asked for most are a waffle with avocado, egg and bacon, and a waffle with nutella.
Do you have plant milk or decaf?
We pour almond, coconut and oat milk, so just say which you’d like. We don’t serve decaf coffee; the Maple Chai Latte (Ft 1,950), made with oat milk, is the usual swap.
Do you sell cheesecake here?

Getting here
You'll find us at Hercegprímás u. 15, on a side street just off Bajcsy-Zsilinszky út in Lipótváros. Walk toward the dome of St. Stephen's Basilica (the Bazilika, as Budapest calls it) and we're a three-minute walk from its front square. Deák Ferenc Square and the start of Andrássy Avenue sit close by, so it's easy to fold a visit into a morning downtown.
